Flowspace is honored to be a two-time recipient of the SEAL Environmental Initiatives Award, recognized for its achievements in powering sustainable fulfillment for omnichannel brands.
The SEAL Business Sustainability Awards honor Sustainability, Environmental Achievement, and Leadership. The program recognizes companies and leaders across the globe for their leadership, innovation, and commitment to sustainable business practices.
While carbon emissions from online shopping are 36% lower than those produced by in-store trips per a recent MIT study, transportation and delivery still takes a toll on the environment. The further a product has to travel to a consumer, the more pollution is created.
With its proprietary Network Optimization algorithm, Flowspace proactively determines which configuration of fulfillment centers will offer the most optimal efficiencies and sustainability impacts to a merchant. By optimizing a fulfillment network so products are stored and fulfilled closest to end consumers, brands reduce shipping distance and related carbon emissions while accelerating delivery of goods to customers.
Across more than three million shipments, Network Optimization has saved Flowspace customers more than 4 billion miles in transit and 388,000 lbs in carbon emissions – the equivalent of 685,ooo tons of waste recycled instead of landfilled.
2024 SEAL Sustainability Award honorees include several other brands and enterprises within the retail and ecommerce industry, including Fresh Del Monte, Sephora, and PATHWater.
“Flowspace is proud to be contributing to the sustainability impacts of its ecommerce and retail brand customers by minimizing shipment distances and related carbon emissions,” said Ben Eachus, co-founder and CEO, Flowspace. “We are honored to receive this recognition from the SEAL Sustainability Awards, and eager to continue to build toward a more sustainable future.”
